The SAF4121I is a high-performance network security appliance based on a standard Intel® x86 communications hardware platform (Crystal Forest/Gladden). The unit provides four fixed Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) RJ-45 ports, one Gigabit Ethernet management port, dual 2.5” SATA hard disk drives, and support for two optional network modules. The available module options enable this flexible platform to provide up to 16 Ethernet ports, including 1/10 GbE and RJ-45/fiber interfaces.
The SAF4121I platform supports a wide range of CPUs, from Xeon to Celeron, and up to 32GB DDR3 DIMMs, offering configuration options to meet various demands. In addition, the platform supports the Intel® Data Plane Development Kit (Intel® DPDK) for software applications, which significantly boosts packet processing throughput on Intel® multi-core architectures.
With a 1RU rack-mount form-factor and scalability options, the SAF4121I is ideal as an enterprise network security appliance, branch office router, or media and communications appliance.
